The beauty of open source applications is that you can blend applications together to meet a set of requirements! This is what we have done in constructing JabberCollab. JabberCollab can be used as a community hub for joint development or other activities. We start out with a few base packages such as LAMP, Jabber Server 1.4.2, phpCollab, class.jabber.php, and JPT.
Jabber/XMPP provides a great open platform for instant communications, phpCollab is a nice collaboration tool written in PHP that I personally use on a day to day basis, class.jabber.php allows phpCollab to communicate via Jabber, and JPT will provides a simple Jabber/XMPP messaging client for phpCollab.
JabberCollab is used by members of the Jabber community initially to collaborate internally and with Jabber sponsor request. JabberCollab also facilitates connecting developers with project opportunities.
Gottschalk’s presentation demonstrates how easy it is to glue OS applications together to achieve an objective.
