Template Toolkit Version 3
Andy Wardley, Canon Research Centre Europe Ltd.

Track: Perl
Date: Thursday, July 10
Time: 1:45pm - 2:30pm
Location: Portland

This talk will describe the new features of version 3 of the Template Toolkit. This release will include some significant changes to the internal structure of the Template Toolkit. These include a new implementation of the parser and related modules that provide a much greater level of control over the language grammar. This should allow the Template Toolkit to be used more effectively, not only as it currently is as a template processing system with its own particular mini-language (which some people love and others aren't so keen on), but also as a component toolkit for building custom template processing engines with different directive styles, language grammars, configuration options, and so on. It is also hoped that this release will provide a platform for closer integration with other templating modules and establish better links between different template languages rather than bigger barriers.
