Afilias uses PostgreSQL to support all its registries. This presentation covers using PostgreSQL in that environment.
Explore the advantages of PostgreSQL and why to use it. Discuss the importing of "foreign" data to the Afilias registry, including the import of the .ORG database to the system that Afilias runs for Public Interest Registry. PostgreSQL makes it easy to move data from other systems into it, so this is an area where PostgreSQL saves effort.
Consider using PostgreSQL for 24/7 systems, and learn about the deployment on Sun hardware running Solaris. This is still a little tricky for PostgreSQL, but Afilias's experience proves that it is possible.
Hear what might be called "social" challenges in running PostgreSQL. This is not merely the usual list of, "Why didn't you use _x_?" questions.
