Session
Python Web Service and Grid Services Support
Keith Jackson, Lawrence Berkeley National Lab
Track: Python
Date: Thursday, July 10
Time: 1:45pm - 2:30pm
Location: Salon B
The recent push to combine the best aspects of web services and computational and data grid technology has yielded the new Open Grid Services Architecture (OGSA) from ANL, ISI, and IBM. While most of this work has been done in Java, we at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory are convinced that Python offers an excellent platform for Web Service and Grid programming.
Jackson discusses the current work at LBNL in implementing OGSA compliant client and server frameworks. This includes adding support for automatic WSDL to Python code generation to automate the usage of the ZSI toolkit, WS-Security work to support signed SOAP messages, and extensions to the WebWare project to build an OGSA hosting environment.
