Keynote Tales From the Two Towers Milton Ngan, Weta Digital Ltd Track: Keynote Date: Friday, July 11 Time: 12:15pm - 1:00pm Location: Oregon Ballroom At last year's OSCon, Ngan gave an overview of the challenges he faced producing the visual effects for "The Fellowship of the Ring" and the challenges Weta Digital faced by choosing to use open source technology. This year, Ngan shows even more of the challenges involved with making "The Two Towers," from the creation of Gollum to how he managed the terabytes of storage used on the film. He also gives a bit more insight into the growth of Weta from the 20-30 person facility it was at the end of "The Frighteners" in 1996 to the 300-400 person facility it became at the peak of 2002.
