PEAR is the PHP Extension and Application Repository, and it's first
official release arrived with the release of PHP 4.3. PEAR offers a
variety of classes and extensions that can help to speed development of
applications. Caraveo introduces you to what PEAR is, what it
offers, and delves into the basic installation and usage of PEAR classes and
extensions. He also takes a look forward to what may be in the pipe
for PEAR with PHP 5.
