Inside the Eclipse Platform Project

Track: BOF
Date: Thursday, July 10
Time: 7:00pm - 8:30pm
Location: Salon G

This BoF will be hosted by John Wiegand, eclipse platform project PMC lead, and joined by members of the eclipse development team.

Eclipse (www.eclipse.org) is an open source platform for building tools for developers. The platform project is central to Eclipse' extensibility and provides the technical foundations for an ever-increasing number of plug-in tools. John Wiegand will provide a brief overview of the platform, its architecture and future directions, and what else is going on at eclipse.org. In addition, there will be a brief demo of the current state of the Eclipse Platform and the Eclipse Java Development Tools (JDT). We will then open the floor to a discussion focused on the challenges and the opportunities of an extensible architecture.
