In April, 2004 Microsoft posted the Windows Installer XML (WiX) project to SourceForge.net and in 3 months the project had over 100,000 downloads and a small community of contributors. Rob Mensching, a Software Design Engineer for Microsoft will be providing a quick introduction to the Windows Installer and how to build MSI packages using the WiX toolset. He will demonstrate the creation of a MSI package with WiX that installs a Windows application, a Windows Service, and a Web Service in a typical development environment.  Furthermore, Rob will provide a look at the WiX source code, how it is structured, and discuss the current and future development of WiX.
