In my environment, we are required to have a password expiration of no more than 90 days, and we are required to check passwords for "strongness" every quarter (run crack). In Solaris, especially when running NIS, password expiration doesn't work... and the Solaris password requirements are not strong enough to meed DoD rules.
So I developed a set of Perl scripts to enforce strong passwords and password expiration. This BOF will discuss those scripts and how they work, plus chanllenges faced during the development of the scripts. No slides or handouts are available since the scripts are Government property.
Participants are welcome to offer ideas for improvement.
