Session
Personal Digital Identity with LID
Johannes Ernst, CEO, NetMesh Inc.
Track: Security
Date: Thursday, August 4th, 2005
Time: 4:30pm - 5:15pm
Location: E144
2005 has been called the year of Digital Identity. There are many proposals on the market: multi-vendor (Liberty Alliance, cell phone providers), single dominant vendor (Microsoft Passport), and decentralized bottom-up approaches like Light-Weight Identity(tm).
Ernst provides a brief overview over the LID (a light-weight, but powerful, decentralized digital identity technology based on URLs, XPaths and PGP) protocol and implementations (Perl, Java, ...), explains how to incorporate it into server-side and mobile applications, and focuses on the impact of widespread, interoperable "bottom-up" digital identity on software design and business models.
