Session
Write Your Own Monitoring Software With RRDtool
Tobias Oetiker, ISG.EE ETH Zürich
Track: Emerging Topics
Date: Wednesday, August 3rd, 2005
Time: 1:45pm - 2:30pm
Location: E143-144
Every deamon writes a log file, every appliance speaks SNMP. This large quantity of information can be used to get a better understanding of pending performance issues or resource problems showing up on the horizon.
RRDtool makes it simple to write monitoring applications that consume such information, log it to a database, and then produce pretty graphs based on this data.
This presentation gives you an introduction to RRDtool and
gets you started for using it in your own scripts.
