Ways Geeks Are Making Waves (A Pythonic Perspective)
Kirby Urner, Partner, 4D Solutions

Track: Python
Date: Wednesday, August 3rd, 2005
Time: 2:35pm - 3:20pm
Location: E142

A somewhat whimsical yet seriously intended overview of ways in which FOSS and/or geekdom is transforming our culture, as told from the point of view of a Fuller School insider, i.e. by a top ranking student of R. Buckminster Fuller. This is a connect-the-dots type presentation, involving some mention of Python, in which Urner specializes, but which pulls from a grab bag of other gems as well. Our philosophical heritage as OSCONers, big believers in freedom, transparency, the power of positive synergy through collaboration, is inevitably making waves around the world, and far beyond big company cube and server farms. By weaving together some real world, true stories, Urner hopes to communicate his enthusiasm for what you are doing, from his personal yet well-informed perspective.
