These four back-to-back presentations will bring you up to date on the
developments in the major open source relational database systems.
INGRES: The contribution of Ingres to open source in August 2004 provides
an alternative to commercial relational databases for the fiscally aware
enterprise. Emma McGrattan, VP of Development and owner of the Ingres
project, will discuss the current status of Ingres, open source success
stories, and the plans for the future.
MYSQL: The State of the Dolphin will talk about where MySQL is today and
where it is going in the future. We will highlight the features in 5.0 and
talk about what is coming in 5.1.
FIREBIRD: Ann Harrison of the Firebird project describes new features in
Firebird 2, which include support for larger databases, reduced cost
garbage collection, and expression indexes. Firebird 2 also adds
language enhancements from standard SQL like derived tables.
POSTGRESQL: Join Core Team members Bruce Momjian and Josh Berkus to learn
about what developments are in store for version 8.1 and beyond. We'll
go over the new features, changes being discussed in the code as well as
the community, and how the many new corporate supporters are involved.
