Computational Origami: Mathematics, Tools and Algorithms
Robert Lang
Track: Emerging Topics
Date: Thursday, August 4th, 2005
Time: 10:45am - 11:30am
Location: E148
The application of computers to origami, the Japanese art of paper-folding, has led to breathtaking advances in the art and surprising applications of technology. This talk will present some of the underlying mathematics of origami and related problems in computational geometry, as well as algorithms used to realize both computer-generated origami and the technological applications ranging from airbags to space telescopes that were discussed in the Keynote presentation earlier in the day.
