BOF
Self-Configuring Networks Using JXTAtm Technology
Track: BOF
Date: Wednesday, August 3rd, 2005
Time: 7:30pm - 8:30pm
Location: E142
Moderated by Mohamed AbdelAziz, Sun Microsystems, Inc.
Traditional content distribution can be a costly service to deploy and often relies on a centralized approach (or hybrid one using a load balancer or caching servers). Recently there has been several new approaches which tap into the edge for the purposes of locating and distribution of content.
In this talk we'll examine how a Self-Configuring Network is
implemented over the JXTATM technology virtual network, and the benefits it inherits by utilizing JXTA's Peer Group abstraction, end to end secure transports, and loosely coupled distributed hash tables. We'll examine how a content maybe fragmented across several nodes, and how these fragments maybe located dynamically within the network . The paper will also compare such a network to other systems such as bittorent, and the like.
