BOF OSI Talks about License Proliferation Track: BOF Date: Thursday, August 4th, 2005 Time: 7:30pm - 8:30pm Location: D135 Moderated by Laura Majerus, OSI At OSBC earlier this year, OSI unveiled a plan for dealing with the issue of License Proliferation. The document outlining the plan has come under much scrutiny, due in part to its assertion that one of the the engines driving proliferation of licenses in the open source world is the Mozilla Public License in it current form. Never the less, the issue of License Proliferation continues to grow in importance, as now another prime engine driving new licenses has emerged: the need for open source licenses to also address legal frameworks and national jurisdictions outside the US. Join OSI License Proliferation Committe chairwoman, Laura Majerus, and members of the OSI Board to discuss the factors which will be considered and the process to be used in the tiering of licenses.
