The EU recently funded a FLOSSPOLS study on how the community provides skills development and employment generation. The survey of 1300+ developers and 150+ employers is a follow-on to the original FLOSS study (2002) and was pursued because "learning and developing new skills" was the most commonly cited reason for participants to join the developer community. Learn about the skill-building value of open source, the economic value of those skills, and the value placed upon those skills in the job market.
