Starting from Version 5.1, MySQL supports a powerful and robust mechanism for adding extensions to the serves -- so called plugins. Ease of use, security, extensibility, user-friendliness -- these are just a few highlights of the new interface. This talk will describe the Plugin API, how to use it, and what plugin types are supported. During the talk we will develop together a simple, but nevertheless, useful plugin from scratch.
