When people say "that's Rock n Roll", do they mean something very specific? This keynote will explore what we can we learn from the Rock n Roll industry about what the future will bring for the open source community now that it has become a global movement and the "money" has jumped in.

Key Points:

  • The Code (i.e. the Music)
  • The People
  • Art + Commerce
This talk is mean to question what's most important when trying to define and understand where Open Source is headed, i.e. a rigid technical definition of what it means to be an open-source project / company, or the spirit and fundamental principles that created the community in the first place?

It will also focus on the inevitable role of commerce, how to relate to the different people and interests now involved, and how we can best use them to our advantage.
