The Google AJAX Search API is designed to allow applications to easily embed Google Search into their applications. The API supports parallel search across a number of Google back end services including web, local, blog, and video. The API is based on an extensible framework allowing this suite of back ends to grow over time.

This talk will provide an "under the hood" peek into the inner workings of the API including the server tier as well as both browser side tiers. The API is fully customizable via CSS. It is based on a mix of HTML Microformats and well structured and marked HTML. We will spend some time discussing this aspect of the API. Additionally, we will discuss and demonstrate some of the sample scenarios and environments where we feel this API can be used to its full potential.
