Apache Velocity is often considered just an alternative to the ubiquitous Java server pages for web applications, but Velocity is much more. As a general purpose templating solution written in Java, it is at the heart of code generators, mail systems, or documentation frameworks. This talk gives an overview of the Velocity templating engine, its language (VTL: Velocity templating language), and the integration of Velocity into your own projects. Also discussed are the new features of Velocity 1.5, the first major release since two years.
