After learning databases with Oracle and spending a number of years building large database-backed apps using MySQL, I now find myself working with a large app backed with PostgreSQL. This caused a number of immediate questions. How do I log in? How do I handle rights? Where is "show databases?" How do I profile my code? Why aren't there enums?

We'll take a look at the things that most confused me during my transition, how I solved them, and how I kept my sanity as I learned to embrace the new and different power granted by PostgreSQL. Of course, most of our products work across databases, so the adventure continues.
