Session
MySQL Internals and Kernel Developments
Michael (Monty) Widenius, CTO & Co-founder, MySQL AB
Track: Databases
Date: Wednesday, July 25
Time: 11:35am
- 12:20pm
Location: Portland 251
Contributing to MySQL code is of interest for many developers, starting from simple patch submissions and going on all the way to new Storage Engines. In this session, Widenius, as the original MySQL developer, walks through the internals of MySQL, concentrating on key concepts such as the architecture of the kernel and the highlights of the thread structure, the Item trees, and other parts of the code that have turned out to be particularly hard to grasp. He will be seconded by his co-speaker, Jay Pipes, who takes care to clarify Widenius, to slow him down, and to make sure that the audience can take away as much as possible.
