At this BoF, we will discuss the status of Open Source usage and products in education. We will talk about migration strategies, common experiences, and special problems faced in deploying Open Source solutions in the academic environment. We will discuss legal requirements particular to the educational environment. We should also cover which Open Source applications people are using now, what OSS products are coming, and what features are being developed. We will also discuss OSS in the curriculum, including its use in programming, database, desktop applications, and other situations.
