BOF

Geek Herding on a Shoestring

Track: BoFs (Birds of a Feather)
Date: Thursday, July 26
Time: 7:30pm - 8:30pm
Location: D137-138

Moderators: Leslie Hawthorn, Program Manager - Open Source, Google, Inc., and Cat Allman, Developer Relations, Google, Inc.

Of the many challenges facing volunteer-driven/non-profit groups, doing effective in-person outreach to your potential community members on a limited budget can be one of the more difficult tasks. Cat and Leslie have collectively hosted hundreds of open source/developer meetups and conferences, usually on a shoe-string budget and with not enough pairs of hands. They will share tips for creating effective user space with constrained resources. This BoF will focus heavily on Q&A to help solve your problems.
