This session is designed to promote discussion round the gaps between the four leading proprietary vendors (Big 4) and the four vendors that have been identified by Gartner as the Little 4. The idea of the BOF is to try and set a baseline of what an ESM product must have in the monitoring and event management space and hopefully lead to identifying the gaps between proprietary vs. open solutions. High on the list will be Nagios, Zabbix, and Tivoli. However, I invite the ZenOSS, Hyperic, Groundwork, BMC, and HP folks join in. I will moderate the discussion and I have over 30 years working with propriety ESM solutions and I am considered an expert in working with Tivoli monitoring and event management solutions.
