In addition to just being a fun, fast framework for web development, Ruby on Rails has been designated the poster child of a smaller-lighter-faster revolution in software, generally summed up as "Less Software."

The last smaller-lighter-faster revolution in software development was the call for "Less Process" and the poster child was Extreme Programming (XP).

What are the similarities between these two movements? The differences? What can this revolution learn from the last and what lessons can Rails learn from XP?
