So far, formal education at the Universitaet (research university) level has been almost entirely untouched by the Rails phenomenon. Carsten Bormann will describe how he taught a successful yearly Rails course and review how Ruby and Rails have changed research approaches at the Center for Computing Technologies (TZI) of the Universitaet.
What are appropriate subjects for a Rails course at a research university?
What are success factors for organizing such a course?
The main objective of this talk is to gather educators interested in Rails for a fruitful discussion; depending on who else might want to contribute to this subject, this might be extended into a longer, coordinated slot. (Rails experience of attendees is less important.)
