Come learn how Microsoft is working with publishers to incorporate their content into Live Search Books books.live.com, Microsofts search service for book content. Youll learn about the Live Search Books Publisher Program, our flexible Preview Rights models, and see a demonstration of the programs feature-rich publisher dashboard.
Live Search Books draws book content from two sources:
The Live Search Books Library Program This program, launched in partnership with leading libraries around the world is focused on scanning and indexing out-of-copyright titles.
The Live Search Books Publisher Program This program enables rights holders (usually a publisher or author) to submit in copyright titles for inclusion in our index.
Publishers begin by signing up for the program at http://publisher.live.com. Titles that are available in digital form can be uploaded using our simple upload tools; books that are only available in print can be shipped to our facilities for scanning. The resulting files are then indexed so that the relevant content can be displayed in response to user queries. Our feature-rich publisher dashboard makes it easy for publishers to choose the amount of content displayed to our Search usersshow a few paragraphs or a few pages. Publishers can link their commerce enabled web site to our pages so that users can purchase publisher titles when they find them. Its easy to sign up and submit titlesand theres no cost for participating.
