This is a hands-on, code- and demo-based session on building Rich Internet Applications that run exactly the same way across multiple operating systems using the free Adobe Flex and Flash technologies. James Ward will provide a brief overview of RIAs, Flash, and Flex on Desktop Linux before launching into a demo- and code-based presentation designed to help developers realize the potential of RIAs on Desktop Linux. He will show how Flex-based apps can offer elevated real-time messaging, expressiveness, performance, and productivity, and present demos and examples of apps that work online and offline using ubiquitous web technologies.
