Unmanageable in-boxes, stale email messages, and folder overload -- whether or not most users realize it, enterprise email is broken. Email is one of the most usedand also the most frustrating application, both for the end-user and the IT administrator.
Web 2.0 and open source are creating a dramatic change in the way that people are communicating. The introduction of new technologies like tagging, wiki, blogs, Universal Messaging, RSS, iCal, and enterprise mash ups have enabled a new end-user paradigm for easily sharing information between people within and across enterprises. Leveraging these technologies and the open source community to develop a more effective email server and an innovative new user-interface can change all that.
This session will explore the current problems with enterprise email, how the community can help fix it, how to leverage open source in mobilizing corporate email, and what's in store for the future of email.
