Torsten is employed at Canonical's Support and Services since December 2006. Prior to this engagement he worked as researcher at the chair for CAAD at the ETH Zurich. He focused on privacy and video surveillance issues and developed a prototype that combines computer vision, cryptography and building automation elements. He completed his Master in Computer Science and Economics in 2001 at the University of Kaiserslautern.
Since 1997 he has been part of the organizing team of LinuxTag. He was program chair between 1998 and 2003 and since then leads the Multimedia and Video team. In cooperation with Nils Magnus he was editor of a book on Linux and Video, published in 2005 by Open Source Press. He holds the Ubuntu Certified Professional status and is a Red Hat Certified Engineer.
