Mark Newsome is a web-services architect at Hewlett-Packard in Corvallis, Oregon. He is particularly interested in designing "intelligent" user interfaces that make it easier for users to find information stored in databases. Newsome earned a Ph.D. from Oregon State University in 1996 where he created one of the first web-to-database scripting languages and an accompanying query interface design tool. At HP he is working on a project that allows printers to reorder their own consummables.
