Head of Program Management and Advanced Prototyping, MSR India
Sean Blagsvedt is Head of Program Management and Advanced Prototyping at Microsoft Research India and helped found the Bangalore-based lab 2.5 years ago. His current focus areas include mobile phone prototypes and strategies for emerging markets, novel uses of machine translation, and computing products and services for traditionally underserved populations such as email for the illiterate and job services for low-skilled workers.
Prior to moving to India, Sean worked on the Windows Vista User Experience team, defining the Messenger and Contacts experience, and the Office 2003 and Office XP teams, owning Messenger integration, early incarnations of the Vista Sidebar and speech recognition.
Sean holds a dual B.A. in Computer Science and Public Policy from Brown University. He also dabbles in designing office buildings and has come to thoroughly enjoy Yoga and dosas.
