Ari VirtanenVice President, Convergence Products, Multimedia, Nokia ![]() Ari Virtanen heads the Multimedia Business Groups Convergence Business that makes non-cellular connected products for consumers home and mobile use, including the current leading product, the Nokia 770 Internet Tablet. Prior to joining Convergence Products, Multimedia, Ari was in charge of Networks System Technology Unit with the global responsibility of network related end-to-end system functionalities, architectures, R&D and technology strategies as well as regulatory and standardization activities. Before that he was in charge of Nokias Mobile Packet Core (MPC) and Service Control Systems (SCS) businesses as well as the Intelligent Content Delivery (ICD) program. Ari also had the global responsibility of heading Nokia's network platforms. During the latter half of 1990s he established a business unit with the responsibility of building packet switched network elements for GPRS and 3G, and before that he was in charge of Nokia's GSM switches and subscriber registers (MSC&HLR business). Ari Virtanen joined Nokia 1.3.1989 and has a master's degree in computer science and industrial economics. |
