Charles McCathieNevile

Charles McCathieNevile, a developer at Opera Software, is a Web standards and architecture expert, with a special interest in accessibility and usability. Before joining Opera in 2005, McCathieNevile spent six years with the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), putting his extensive experience with IT accessibility and hypertextual networks to use. McCathieNevile holds a degree in Medieval History from the University of Melbourne in Australia. He is a proficient speaker on Web technologies, and has given presentations at venues on every continent except Antarctica. A native English speaker, he is also fluent in French and Spanish and proficient in Italian, and is able to give talks in any of those languages. Residing in Oslo, Norway, McCathieNevile spends his spare time learning Norwegian, cooking and serving as the vice president of Fundación Sidar, a non-profit organization working in Iberian languages to improve Web standards and accessibility.
