Education Programme Manager, Canonical Ltd
Richard Weideman is the Education Programme Manager for Canonical, and is the first line contact for all education issues across the range of Ubuntu software, and he manages the development team for Edubuntu.
Richard has a development background extending back to 1986, and joined the internet revolution in 1996. As HP Education Project Manager for South Africa, Richard managed schools training, school LAB technical readiness, content sourcing, and delivery of train-the-trainer sessions. He led the eSchool design process for the HP Consortium participation in the NEPAD eSchools Project, which extends across 14 countries in Africa.
From this background, Richard brings a strong understanding of the Educational Market, including issues such as driving & stumbling factors for adoption and sustainability of Open Source.
