Curt Hecht
Curt Hecht is an integral thought leader at GM Planworks, the unit of Starcom MediaVest Group (SMG) committed to media planning, research and buying on behalf of automotive giant General Motors. Hecht is a communications navigator, dedicated to mapping the evolving digital media landscape and guiding GM, one of the nation’s largest advertisers, toward innovative and engaging consumer contact. He works directly with the GM advertising and CRM teams. Hecht hones his media insight within the forward-thinking idea incubator that is the SMG network to fuel GM’s brand plans across a variety of emerging digital technologies. He is profoundly familiar with how consumers receive, embrace, interact with and manipulate messages – making him well-equipped to advise the client on new media and how best to employ it to effectively reach consumers. Currently, Hecht is assessing the new ways in which consumers engage with the GM product. Accounting for the increasing convergence of a variety of media, Hecht explores how GM can lead the migration of the web’s search, video and behavioral targeting capabilities to television. He also directly oversees relationships with the likes of Yahoo, Google, and the cable MSO advanced TV offerings. During his sixteen years within SMG, Hecht has amassed a variety of communications experience, including service to such blue-chip clients as United Airlines, 7-Up, McDonald’s and Morgan Stanley. Assignments included develop of communication plans to assisting in cross client agency sports and kid’s negotiations. He also opened an office for Starcom in 1999 with the then anchor client of Excite@Home and E! television network. "Combining his expansive digital perspective of both the internet and TV with our "cross-screen" management approach and GM’s leverage you will see start to see the next iteration of advertising and marketing come out of GM Planworks" said Planworks CEO/President Dennis Donlin. Presently, he is an active member of the AAAAs advanced video committee, i20 and Ad:Tech advisory boards. Hecht resides in Winnetka, IL with his wife and daughter. An avid road cyclist, he founded an award-winning 20-member elite cycling team, which has raced nationally and internationally.
