As web applications become more and more complex, it becomes increasingly difficult to deliver those applications to end users via the browsers. Cross-browser and platform compatibility issues, conflict between application and browser UI, and lack of integration with the user's desktop are all issues that artificially limit the complexity and functionality of browser-based applications. As business needs evolve and customers' expectations grow, so does the demand for richer and more engaging content that can be experienced across platforms and browser types.
