Head of Center, Group Research and Development, Vodafone Spain

Paola Tonelli is Head of Centre, Group Research and Development, based in Madrid Spain. She is responsible for leading Vodafone Group's global specifications development for mobile data services activities. Ms. Tonelli has served as the Chairman of the Strategic Planning Committee and Vice Chair of the Board of Directors at the Open Mobile Alliance since 2002. She has serve d on the board of Liberty Alliance and was chairman of the Operators Group the UMTS Forum.

Ms. Tonelli has been with Vodafone Group since 1999 and was formerly at AirTouch Communications, Pacific Bell and Bell Laboratories.

Ms. Tonelli studied Theoretical Physics at the University of Parma, Italy. She received a degree in Physics from San Diego State University, and has studied Mechanics and Structures at UCLA and Computer Science at Bell Labs.
