The goal for GumSpots is to be a consistent and open organizational framework for discovering and interacting with mobile services via SMS and/or Flash Lite. The Flash-based GumSpots personal data system provides a customizable visual interface, which enables a user to access a wide range of seamlessly integrated services. GumSpots features an integrated patent pending Mobile Map and Messaging system (MMM), which enables the fast creation and deployment of location-based services such as city maps, university guides, real estate listings, social facilitators, self-guided tours, and more. GumSpots will provide users with the unique ability to customize their mobile device to their particular lifestyle and add services that are of interest to them via an open framework.
GSPS (GumSpots Positioning System) is one of the services accessed via the GumSpots platform. GSPS lets you enter and view hidden data on city sidewalks. A user would take a photograph of the GumSpots with a cellphone and submit it to the GSPS service. The GSPS service would then determine the location and orientation of the image and return the image (or another file) with extra hidden data displayed. A user also has the ability to add hidden text by submitting a note with their image. GSPS patterns can be used for Big Games (like Semacodes) and they occur naturally in urban landscapes. Unlike Semacodes, new GSPS patterns (which hold hidden data), can be generated by hand and registered using a camera phone. One could pass hidden notes which could only be viewed via GSPS.
