The geospatial industry has a mature data business. Established players like Tele Atlas sell ground truth street data, companies like GlobeXplorer sell imagery, and aggregators like Telcontar integrate these sources into consistent APIs for sale to enterprise and government. This stable industry is poised for upheaval, though, as mashups platforms remove the perceived cost of basic mapping services and aerial imagery, consumer-facing Web 2.0 startups gather new layers of user data, and grassroots efforts work to offer basic map data for free. This session, moderated by Tim O'Reilly, explores the coming changes.
