BOF

Making Geospatial Data Easily Accessible to the Masses

Date: Tuesday, May 29
Time: 7:30pm - 8:30pm
Location: California Room

Moderated by Sean Gorman, FortiusOne

There is a huge world of open source geospatial data that is not easily found or consumed to the public at large. There are several efforts to make this content available to the growing web mapping world. This BOF's goal is to discuss the issues and efforts associated with freeing geospatial data and how collaboration can help promote the cause.
Can finding and consuming geospatial data be as easy as "local search?"
How can the web mapping and GIS communities be leveraged to help solve the problem?
What are the possibilities for mashing up geospatial data with social and other unstructured data sources?
What are the best database archtitecture approaches to making geospatial data manageable and mashable with oterh data sources?
