O'Reilly Conference on Enterprise Java
Westin Hotel -- Santa Clara, California
March 26-29, 2001

Java
J2ME Programming and Design
Speaker: Nat Wyatt
Track: Architecture
Date: 03/29/2001
Time: 4:15pm - 5:00pm

For experienced Java programmers, this session illustrates J2ME application design and programming by walking through a working MIDlet's code. In addition to showing how CLDC MIDP is used in the context of an application, this session analyzes the design alternatives that lead to the code. The session will cover MIDP lifecycle operations, user-interface, threads and timers, networking, and persistent storage. By seeing what the application did right and did wrong, attendees will gain insight into how to make their own programs smaller, faster, and easier to use.
