An Invitation to Attend the 2nd O'Reilly Bioinformatics Technology Conference
|
|
Dear Friend,
In spite of a year of economic uncertainty, biotechnology and
bioinformatics continue to experience strong growth, and scientific
computing continues to be where the action is. The fields of genomics,
proteomics, and evolutionary biology are surging forward; clustering
technology and grid computing for applied sciences are being refined and expanded; and more biologists than ever are programming in Perl, Python, and Java, and are building their own tools of the trade.
This places us at an exciting crossroads. Bioinformatics and computational biology are at the intersection of biology and computer science. O'Reilly & Associates is at the intersection of cutting-edge research and mainstream adoption in a wide variety of technical areas. We specialize in documenting the latest tools and systems, translating the innovators' knowledge into useful skills for practitioners of the art. The O'Reilly Bioinformatics Technology Conference delivers on this promise by bringing together
scientists, technologists, and developers of all kinds.
Our tutorials explore introductory and advanced topics for both biologists and programmers, and our keynote speakers are some of the brightest, most innovative minds in biology and computer science. You'll find tracks devoted to tool design, end-user applications, system administration and infrastructure, and "big picture" issues in bioinformatics, as well as individual sessions covering topics such as Web services, grid computation, visualization, genomics, algorithms, pipelining and automation of data, and building open source applications.
Our conference is also about meeting and exchanging ideas with your peers. You'll find the hallway discussions to be as energetic and informative as the presentations!
BioCon 2002 was a great success. BioCon 2003 promises to be deeper, richer, and even more stimulating.
We hope to see you in San Diego.
